What's New at N.E.W.

September 20, 2017

Presidential Ponderings

Greetings from Mother Superior!

If you attended our September meeting or saw our great pictures, courtesy of Amber Kay Photography, you were probably wondering why the Board looked a little " spookier" than usual. Our customes and the great skit by Chris and Margaret were all to encourage us to support and attend MONSTER BASH, our signature event for the year. Bring in your booze, buy your tickets and plan to attend! I'm planning to pay for my staff to attend. Will you consider doing the same? Remember, all proceeds support our Scholarship Fund.

Our meeting was jammed packed with excellent presentations especially from the wonderful ladies from River City Givers. A couple (or five) thousand dollars richer to disburse to deserving young ladies in July!

And how about a shout out to Mary for a great presentation on the benefits of N.E.W. membership? Help us to grow and bring a guest to the next meeting. We're happy to welcome new members and spread the love of networking, professional developmentand philanthropy.

Many thanks to Sue for our updated Newsletter format - please let us know if you like what you see.

I offer you this inspiration for the month from Shirley T's new book ...
"Your mind is the garden.Your thoughts are the seeds. You can either harvest flowers or weeds."

Beautiful ladies, I expect to see your bountiful bouquets at our next meeting on October 5th!

"Creating Healthy Boundaries: Getting Free From OPP

When you think of boundaries, what comes to mind? A line, a border, place that marks territory? That is, in essence, what boundaries mean in relationships as well. Or, where I end and you begin. When we don’t know where that “marker” is, we allow ourselves to be overtaken by the intrusion of OPP—other people’s plans, other people’s problems, and other people’s pain
And, that’s why we find ourselves out of time and energy, out of touch, and out of control.
If you’re struggling with negative feelings, feeling like you can’t control anyone or anything, wishing others would change, it might be time to set some healthy boundaries so you can be free from OPP. This is where real love begins—self-love and loving others.
You will learn:
• What boundaries are
• The symptoms of unhealthy boundaries
• Where you got them
• How to establish healthy boundaries
• How to let the good stuff happen
